PC Magazine - Windows Mobile is Only for People Who Know How to Use it: OK, that's not actually the name of the article by Lance Ulanoff. I re-tagged it here because this is, in general, how I feel about people who share the sentiments in his commentary. He's right. Windows Mobile is not for people who never knew how to use a smartphone before the iPhone came along. He is right; other mobile OS' perform better. Because they don't do anything and in order to really make them work as a decent business phone, you have to download crap-tons of 3rd party apps. I have now used Blackberry's, WinMo phones, the iPhone, and a Palm Pre. I have my own [jaded] view. To see a jaded view with a different slant, read Ulanoff's artcle. I don't agree with most of it, but it's decent commentary.

PC World - Apple Punch List of Topics for 9 September Event: This is not much in the way of news, since most of us could have guessed these five things already. I am still not counting out a potential Apple Tablet announcement, on account of the fact that I still remember "The Best is Yet to Come" and "I left my Heart in San Francisco". If you don't know what Apple might be up to, I recommend this list. It is so hard to find Apple news these days without five pages of marketing drivel attached to it that sometimes a one-pager is a gold mine of a find.

UMPC Portal - Zap Those Pesky Scripts: If it is one thing that I hate it is opening a webpage only to see my PC slow to a crawl because of goofy music playing, a Flash video running a commercial, and other junk clogging my PC's proverbial performance pipe. This article talks about running the Firefox plug-in No-Script, which I run on every Windows PC other than my work TabletPC. The quick-shot is a decent prep on the advantages of running No Script. If you scroll down to some of the comments, you will see some other recommendations from site posters for alternatives to No Script. The more the merrier.
